Brock Institute for Electrophysiological Research
BIER brings together researchers in psychology, biological sciences, and physical education and kinesiology who utilize EEG (electro-encephalogram), EMG (electromyogram) and other electrophysiological measures to study thought processes, the control of movement, and the functional properties of neurons.

Brock Research Institute for Youth Studies
BRIYS promotes collaboration, co-operation, and multidisciplinary alliances within the field of youth research. The Institute is dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge in the field of youth research and to serving as a vital link between the University and the community. Research projects include resilience and lifestyle choices, smoking cessation, gambling, and language development and literacy.

Centre for Biotechnology
The Centre comprises faculty from biological sciences and chemistry, as well as physics. The Centre co-ordinates the undergraduate and graduate (MSc and PhD) programs in Biotechnology, and acts as a liaison between Brock and the community on issues regarding biotechnology research and education.

Centre for Digital Humanities
The centre is dedicated to research and teaching that uses digital technologies for the examination, creation, transmission and preservation of human culture. Digital Humanities engages disciplines such as literature, language, history and the arts. Digital tools are used to support the development of innovative forms of analysis and new conventions of representation, narration and documentation.

Centre for Healthy Development
The centre is a hub through which people, information, and action flow to integrate research capacity, evidence-based best practices, policy development, and implementation strategies related to key issues in sport and physical activity. The broad based membership provides a diverse environment of expertise and global perspectives for national and international development.

Centre for Muscle Metabolism & Biophysics
In the past two decades, the role of muscle in overall health maintenance has proven to be significant. The Centre for Muscle Metabolism and Biophysics brings together researchers from the Departments of Physical Education and Kinesiology and Community Health Sciences at Brock and colleagues from other institutions who are working cooperatively to develop a greater understanding of the functioning and adaptability of muscle tissue and to better understand how this tissue contributes to health and disease.

Centre for Sport Capacity
Drawing on the collaboration of faculty, students, colleagues from other institutions, and experts from the sport community, the CSC acts in research and granting collaboration, community outreach, and international engagement to examine how individuals within organizations can build and utilize ‘capacity’ for the overall improvement of Canadian sport. As both a research and development centre, the CSC serves as the nucleus through which people, research, information, funding, and policy development flow to create and deliver ongoing skills-based training for large numbers sport volunteers with key administrative functions.

Jack and Nora Walker Canadian Centre for Lifespan Development Research
The Plaza Building houses this research centre, home to more than 60 faculty members who study such things as developing brains, youth lifestyle choices, and healthy living for adults. The network also involves more than 30 community groups.

Tecumseh Centre for Aboriginal Education and Research
The centre’s activities include creating research training and support for Aboriginal students and opportunities for Aboriginal and non-aboriginal scholars, as well as a speaker series, colloquia, conferences, collaborative research proposals and to generally foster intra-institutional communications relevant to Aboriginal issues, knowledge, experience and the contributions of Aboriginal peoples globally.

Niagara Community Observatory
The mandate of the Niagara Community Observatory is to engage in research both on its own initiative and by working with other organizations. Its major research focuses on the Niagara area, but with reference to how the Niagara area is situated in the provincial, national, binational, and international spheres. The Observatory produces non-partisan, evidence-based research. The Observatory fosters the sharing of research by diverse elements of the community who might be working on the same issues from different perspectives.
